This made Season of the Lost lengthy compared to most past Seasons, with the exception of Season of Arrivals. In order to retain players throughout the remainder of Season 15, Bungie is releasing the 30th Anniversary Pack on December 7, which includes a new Dungeon, plenty of cosmetics, and an all-new activity for fireteams of up to six players. The 30th Anniversary Pack is also coming with a bunch of changes to the current sandbox, including a series of adjustments to make Stasis more balanced in PvE and PvP. That’s precisely why Bungie should stray away from nerfing Behemoth Titans again.

Destiny 2’s Behemoth Titans and Sandbox Changes

Ever since its introduction with Beyond Light in November 2020, Stasis has been very dominant in Destiny 2’s meta across all game modes. PvP was affected most by this element due to how much crowd control it offers using slows and freezes, only to add into the mix Stasis crystals and specific abilities like Shatterdive and Bleak Watcher. After many nerfs to all three Stasis subclasses, players are still not happy with the way this powerful tool affects the game, but many have been vocal about reverting the changes to Behemoths.

Behemoth Titans were very strong upon release due to incredible movement capabilities with Shiver Strike, as well as great control over Stasis crystal generation and destruction. This changed drastically after all the Stasis nerfs, and Behemoths are now a lot less useful than they ever were in Destiny 2’s meta, both in PvE and PvP. The fact that Titans don’t have any particular synergies between their Exotic items and Stasis makes things worse in high-end content, where having a well-rounded or niche-filling build is important.

With the 30th Anniversary Pack, Titans will lose the ability to destroy Stasis crystals with Barricades, which makes sense on one hand but also removes another tool. Having Barricades that can shatter Stasis crystals means there is another possible playstyle to adopt using Stasis and the recent Stasis Elemental Well mods, which only leaves two ways for Titans to destroy crystals moving forward. One of them is to shoot Stasis crystals until they shatter, and while this works it is very time consuming. The other is to slide into them, which is not something any Destiny 2 player would want to do in endgame content because it means exposing everyone to enemy fire.

Behemoth Titans are in a weird place where they can’t technically be buffed much in order to avoid further issues with Stasis, but they also shouldn’t be nerfed across the board more than they already have. If anything, some things should be improved, such as making Diamond Lance a more worthwhile Aspect by giving it two slots and a rework, as well as speeding up the Super. Ultimately there is no easy solution, but Behemoth Titans shouldn’t see their power reduced, as it’s already hard to justify picking Stasis over better options.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
