In just five days, Destiny 2 will see the release of its 30th Anniversary Pack, a DLC full of new content that is also accompanied by a rather big sandbox patch, which is set to shake the very foundations of the game. In fact, there will be a great division between each of Destiny 2’s abilities and Supers, providing them with differentiated cooldowns and increases or reductions in power to bring them in line with Bungie’s vision of the game. This is also to encourage players to dedicate themselves to building customization more than ever before.

Bungie released its weekly TWAB post today, and it includes several changes that are coming to the game, but more importantly, Bungie finally addressed one of the community’s pet peeves. Starting next Tuesday, when the new patch drops, Destiny 2 players will be able to change armor mods immediately and with no Glimmer cost, which is incredibly helpful for testing out builds and trying new things without the burden of a limited resource getting in the way.

Furthermore, the change is exceptional because it finally allows third-party apps like Destiny Item Manager and Destiny Companion App to finally access mods and other components to change them remotely, whenever players want. This is incredible, and it will allow Destiny 2 players to theorycraft builds and apply all the changes they want from their phones, with no need to be logged into the game and paying Glimmer for every single mod being slotted.

The road to more freedom with build customization is not all rosy, though, and some Destiny 2 players pointed out the problems with customization becoming the focus in the near future. Still, removing the Glimmer cost from slotting mods is one of the biggest quality of life changes that Bungie could implement, and it bodes very well for the future of the game.

Destiny 2 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
