In the latest weekly blog post, Bungie acknowledged the glitches that Destiny 2 players have found and reiterated the developers stance that it would never punish those who discover cheeses, loot caves, or other shortcuts. However, the studio did reveal that the July 30 update will finally close the boon of opulence loop hole that players have been able to exploit. While that generally means players have a limited time to take advantage of the situation, many players may want to reconsider.
In addition to the glitch fix, the patch is also introducing a sort of debt system. What this means is that Destiny 2 will correctly calculate the Tributes Placed total, removing the exploited ones and only leaving the actual correct number of tributes placed. For players that have already unlocked the highest tier rewards such as the X Marks the Spot emote or Bad Juju catalyst, they’ll be locked until the actual Tributes Placed legitimately matches the requirement.
For many players who took advantage of the boon of opulence workaround, they’ll need to start placing legit tributes. The good news is this system will not impede the use of Bad Juju, so for those who unlocked it correctly or with an exploit, they can continue to utilize it.
The patch date also lines up with the next big event in Destiny 2, the return of the Solstice of Heroes. While Bungie has yet to fully detail what’s included in this year’s version, players should likely expect a similar set up as last year with remixed missions, lengthy challenges, and new armor to unlock and upgrade.
