The update will drop next Tuesday, October 30, after a short maintenance. Once Destiny 2 is back up and running, Guardians will see a number of QOL changes, ranging from inventory adjustments to the tweaking of certain weapons. Next week will also see a limited boost in Infamy XP and the implementation of the new refer-a-friend program.
While there are quite a few changes coming with the update, these aren’t the only ones. A few weeks ago, Bungie provided an early preview of 2.0.5 that listed several more. Some of these changes include increased damage for Swords and Fusion Rifles in PvE and adjustments to reward drops in Nightfall. There were also smaller tweaks, such as a fix for the kill credit issue concerning the Ascendant Primeval Servitor and a reduction in time for single-shader deletion.
Also coming with the update next week is a campaign that gives a huge boost to Infamy XP for a limited time. Players will be able to gain double Infamy from October 30 to November 2, then triple Infamy from November 2 to November 6. Additionally, Ascendant Primeval Servitor spawn rates will be increased.
Lastly, Bungie details the new Refer-a-Friend program, Starting next week, veterans may refer new players to Forsaken. When the invite is accepted and the referral has jumped into the game, both the newcomer and longtime Guardian can embark on a quest that earns them rewards.
While the exact loot wasn’t detailed, there were a few previews included in the post. These include a ship, a sniper rifle, and sparrow. They are all clad in the new refer-a-friend shader, which appears scale-like and transitions into a variety of colors as a black fog crawls about its surface. It’s unique and otherworldly, and something collectors will find irresistible.
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
