While vaulting locations and campaigns is ultimately a good thing for the health of the game, it also takes something away from the experience, considering that new players won’t be able to tackle old content. Destiny 2’s next expansion is taking the Tangled Shore and the Forsaken campaign into the vault, but everything in the HELM is also being vaulted, alongside every piece of seasonal content from Year 4. This left the question as to how Bungie would handle Exotics like Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale, and today’s TWAB explains just that.

Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale are the Exotics that come from the Harbinger and Presage missions, respectively, which are going to be vaulted with The Witch Queen. Because they are Exotics that have random rolls, handling their return was not an easy task, but Bungie’s TWAB clears things out by stating that both these guns will become available from Xur every weekend with random rolls. This is likely the best outcome, considering they were still limited to one drop per week, and players can pick the rolls they like while also ignoring those they don’t.

Another big issue that the Destiny 2 community has been quite vocal about is that some Exotic catalysts have been left out of the game as unobtainable for a long time. Fortunately, today’s TWAB details plans for catalysts as well, and Bungie decided to let them be random drops from playlist activities, while also removing any special requirements they might have - such as the old completion requirements for Whisper of the Worm and Outbreak Perfected. The catalysts for these weapons will become available as random drops:

In the same TWAB, Bungie also clarified the Power Level sources for Destiny 2’s The Witch Queen, also stating which will be the floor Power Level, the soft cap, and finally the hard cap of 1560 Power Level. This means that in the first couple of weeks players won’t get their Hawkmoon or Dead Man’s Tale at max Power Level from Xur, but they will be able to do that later on.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
