Shaders have always been a point of contention with Destiny 2 players. While some lament the loss of the old multi-use system in the original game, most agree that the current game needs a way to dismantle multiple sets of shaders in the same slot. Christopher Barrett responded to a fan’s request on Twitter, confirming that Bungie is planning to discuss this topic. The post will reveal why it’s taken developers so long to get to, why it’s not a simple solution, and also provide a timeframe for when players can expect to see a solution.

After being called out by a fan for what they perceived to be poor game design, Barrett responded by saying he agrees that the shader issue is a problem and that this was just his attempt at providing transparency to the community. For sure a small issue, many fans may believe this to be a quick fix, which is why Barrett wanted to go on record to confirm that this particular problem is a much larger issue than many would assume.

While many fans wish Bungie was a little more communicative and timely with its responses, Barrett has single-handedly taken on that role for the company. After providing players with a lengthy and detailed update on what the future holds for Destiny 2 in 2018, the game director has gone out of his way to talk to fans directly over social media. So far he’s run the gamut of apologizing for design oversights like the bungled Faction Rally drop rates, to teasing new exotics coming soon to the game.
