Following the expansion’s unfortunate delay, some Destiny 2 players are using the extra time to dig up more information on the upcoming faction. One player in particular has scoured the crashed pyramid ship players got to explore inside the moon during the Shadowkeep expansion, hoping to find more answers hidden by the developers. In a post on Reddit, new theories, screenshots, and other discoveries may actually reveal new details on The Darkness.

The player known as BC1096 posted a lengthy thread on Reddit after scouring the Pyramid and land around it inside the moon. They note numerous things that caught his eye including specific patterns, designs, and color usage. In fact, in many of the pillars inside the Pyramid ship, the user notices that the designs resemble a face that looks curiously similar to the head of Oryx. One comment in particular notes that it was a bit strange that when players defeated the former Taken King, he simply drifted off into space. Some have begun to formulate a link between the image and that fact.

The banners inside of the room that players fight the Nightmare Fanatic also have strange animations showcasing specific patterns that switch from white to black. The landing pad also features a gold plate with a specific looking pattern that appears in multiple places inside the ship including the Ghaul and Fanatic rooms. The user theorizes that this design could be the faction logo.

Still, not everyone is on board with these theories. Some don’t see the same faces that the user shows off and instead simply write the designs and logos off as just cool designs and nothing else. It’s also possible that the repeating designs were intentional, perhaps as a way for developers to quickly design the ship by copying and pasting the pillars instead of individually creating each one.

Whatever the case may be, Beyond Light is clearly aiming to shake up the foundation of the franchise. Not only are players going to get to explore a brand new location alongside a returning Destiny 1 character, but numerous planets and content are leaving the game to be put inside the Content Vault for an undetermined amount of time. New community theories also speculate that a long tenured NPC is about to go under a dramatic change, perhaps even switching sides to join up with The Darkness.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
