According to a recent post on Bungie’s Help page, Destiny 2 will be taken offline tomorrow starting at 9:45 AM PT / 11:45 AM ET, with the developer stating that the extended maintenance period for the game should last around four hours. After that, maintenance to the servers ought to conclude at 2:00 PM PT / 5:00 PM ET, which will then allow Guardians to be able to log back in and play the action-RPG.
While Update 2.0.0 will be paving the way for Destiny 2: Forsaken, it’s also set to bring about a bevy of changes for those who won’t own the forthcoming expansion, as Bungie will be making some alterations to the general gameplay, tweaks to the Guardian classes, as well as adjustments to grenades. For instance, Year 2 Weapon Slots will go live for all players, Lost Sectors will have their difficulties increased, and much more.
All things considered, it will be interesting to see how Guardians react to the changes in Destiny 2 with Update 2.0.0, and just how many of those players go on to pick up a copy of Forsaken when it releases next week. Bungie has touted the expansion’s size as being bigger than D1’s The Taken King DLC, so one can only hope that the studio not only manages to best its predecessor in terms of magnitude and quality, but also make up for the second entry’s first two lackluster add-ons.
Destiny 2: Forsaken is set to launch on September 4, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
