While the details of how players will complete the quest are still unknown, each armor piece will drop when players complete its associated quest step. The good news is that each piece of armor will drop as a powerful reward, meaning each piece will drop at a higher level than players’ current overall Power level. This new Iron Banner quest is required to get this season’s armor set in Destiny 2. However, completing the quest unlocks the opportunity for better rolls.
After unlocking an armor piece, it will be added to the Iron Banner loot pool, giving players the ability to reacquire that armor through reputation packages and post-match rewards, but with random perk rolls. However, even though those avenues will open back up after completing the quest and earning the armor, direct purchasing armor from Saladin will not be available at all, with this quest replacing it.
There will still be weapons that can be acquired through reputation packages and match rewards, as well as shaders, an emblem, and a Sparrow that are unlocked by completing specific objectives during the Season of Opulence. This change only affects the armor sets, with the quest only rewarding the armor and not the weapons or other items.
It’s an interesting change to Iron Banner, and it’s another change to the event that has served as a bit of a hotbed for Bungie to try new things such as last season’s Iron Burden debuff. Players will have to decide for themselves what they think of the change once they go hands-on with Iron Banner next week.
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
