As most players have seen since the launch of Destiny 2: Shadowkeep, the Eververse microtransaction store has seemingly been increasing in size and inventory. Part of this issue is that items which are clearly inspired by actual missions, events, or enemies are being placed in the store rather than offered as earnable loot or strike specific gear, something the game sorely lacks.

Thankfully, Luke Smith addressed this very topic this week, revealing that starting in Season 12, Bungie will no longer be selling ships, Ghost shells, sparrows, or armor ornaments in the Eververse Store that are visually inspired by themes from Aspirational Activities. For Bungie, Aspirational Activities include things like Raids, Trials, Dungeons, and anything that pushes players to form up a fireteam. This change won’t be retroactive however as Bungie would rather devote time to working on new stuff to chase rather than fixing older items.

Thankfully, there’s even more changes on the way for Eververse. Bright Dust, an earnable currency that goes towards purchasing Eververse store items, will be easier to earn in future seasons. Unfortunately for the studio, major changes added with the Shadowkeep expansion removed a good portion of how players earned that currency. Not only will it now more ways be offered through Account-specific means rather than character specific, the return will be significantly more than players can currently earn.

The Bright Engram is also getting overhauled to make it more relevant than it currently is. Future seasons will change the Bright Engram to include Eververse items from 3+ seasons prior and the earned ones inside of the Season Pass will get updated to include various Year 3 items which were previously sold for Silver and Bright Dust.

Yesterday’s announcements were also joined by the confirmation that Destiny 2 would also be making the jump to next generation consoles. While details remain a bit scarce including whether or not the Xbox version will take advantage of Microsoft’s Smart Delivery feature which makes the upgraded Xbox Series X version of the game available to Xbox One owners. What this announcement does mean is that Bungie isn’t likely planning on Destiny 3 being ready anytime soon as Destiny 2 likely has at least another year of life left in it at the very least.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
