With Season 18 comes also another sandbox patch where Bungie looks back at what sort of items are in need of a change, for the better or the worse depending on their performance thus far and based on player feedback. Destiny 2 fans have been very vocal lately about Exotics such as Lord of Wolves and Omnioculus being too powerful in PvP, as well as some weapon archetypes underperforming in PvE, and today’s TWAB outlines what to expect with Season 18.

One of the biggest news bits of the TWAB is that Omnioculus is indeed going to be nerfed in PvP and left untouched in PvE, which was one of the main concerns of Hunter players. Bungie is changing how damage reduction scales in PvP across the board, also applying nerfs to Whisper of Chains, one of the Fragments for Stasis subclasses. Lord of Wolves is also undergoing significant changes that aim at reducing its damage out in Destiny 2’s PvP modes while also reducing the amount of ammo it starts with.

On the PvE side, Bungie announced major changes to some Exotics by adding anti-Champion functionalities to them, with the most notable being Le Monarque. This bow is one of the best Exotic primary weapons in Destiny 2 when Overload Bows is around as a seasonal mod, but now this feature is intrinsic for this weapon, making it all the more desirable in all activities. Furthermore, a significant change is that being made to Thunderlord, as it too will gain anti-Overload rounds. This is fantastic news because it means that players can run an anti-Champion weapon in their Kinetic slot and still use their Energy slot for weapons like Forbearance.

Season 18 and the August showcase are going to be an exciting time for players, especially now that recent Destiny 2 leaks showed a potential fifth subclass being in the works, supposedly coming with Lightfall. Overall, players can expect a lot of interesting updates in two weeks, and this sandbox patch from the TWAB shows that Bungie is on the right track.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
