Bungie has also outlined plans for season 13, even with a few additional weeks left in the current Season of the Hunt. Dreaming City and Moon loot are being brought back and added to the loot pool, including new perks that these weapons previously didn’t have. One of the bigger changes are vendor rewards and reputation, as Bungie begins the process of ditching the old tokens system for something more modern with specific rewards earned at various tiers.

For now, everything remains as it was as the exotic merchant Xur is back inside of Destiny 2 with an updated inventory of exotic gear. Follow this guide for his location, news on his exotic cypher quest, as well as a review of what he’s currently selling for the weekend of January 15, 2021.

Where is Xur?

This week, Xur is hanging out at the Tower Hanger.

Load into The Tower and head left towards Amanda Holliday and the former spot where Cayde-6 could be found. Head left after entering the Hanger, run past Arach Jalaal and his Dead Orbit staging ground to find Xur on a platform overlooking the expanses of the Last City.

Class Armor and Exotic Cypher

While Xur’s role is essentially the same as it was prior to the Beyond Light expansion, the exotic merchant also has weekly quests that players can acquire to unlock an exotic cypher. Not only are these required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the new kiosk. Players can earn a new cypher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.

Other than that, here are Xur’s three gear pieces this weekend:

The Stag - Warlock helmet

The skeletal looking helm called The Stag is back in stock this week, which remains a solid, if unexciting support tool for Warlocks. Dearly Departed is the intrinsic perk that grants Rift energy when the wearer is critically wounded. In addition it drops a healing rift for the rest of the team when the wearer dies.

Ultimately, this exotic isn’t immensely useful for solo players as the main trait basically triggers after death. Therefore, this is a situational exotic that is strong in team based modes. Still, there are much better exotic Warlock items that should be prioritized over this one. The roll isn’t great for Warlocks either, being incredibly high in Mobility which is typically a trait associated with Hunters.

Void Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +18 Resilience +12 Recovery +4 Discipline +13 Intellect +8 Strength +9

Oathkeeper - Hunter gauntlets

Bow users will want to stop by Xur this weekend as he has the Oathkeeper gauntlets. Adamantine Brace is the intrinsic perk which allows bow charges to be held indefinitely. While it may not sound exciting on paper, what some players may overlook is that the bonus damage granted for immediately firing after fully drawing the bow is actually held indefinitely until fired.

Ultimately, these are a great pick up for Bow users and that’s about it even though the roll on them is pretty good this week. It works wonders with popular bows like Trinity Ghoul and Le Monarque. Not a fan of bows? These can be skipped.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +17 Resilience +2 Recovery +15 Discipline +12 Intellect +10 Strength +7

ACD/0 Feedback Fence - Titan gauntlets

The ACD/0 Feedback Fence gauntlets are a great choice for players who like to melee and cause a bit of chaos at the same time. The intrinsic perk called Fury Conductors build energy when getting melee kills. Being hit by a melee attack not only reduces incoming damage and unleashes the currently stored energy in an explosion.

It may not be the best available Titan exotic, it is remains a solid choice especially for those players who enjoy PvP content. Getting punched and causing small explosions is a powerful, fun, and destructive ability to have.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

Mobility +7 Resilience +14 Recovery +10 Discipline +7 Intellect +15 Strength +10

Exotic Weapon

It has been quite a while but for the next few days, Xur is selling the Arbalest, a kinetic linear fusion rifle that was introduced during the Revelry event in 2019. Made to look like a crossbow, the Arbalest has an intrinsic perk that essentially makes it fire like one as well. Compounding Force makes the weapon fire slugs that cause massive damage to enemies that are protected by an elemental shield. Paired with that is the Legendary trait Disruption Break which temporarily makes enemies more vulnerable to kinetic damage when an elemental shield is broken.

Because of those perks, the Arbalest shines under certain situations and can be devastating against other Guardians in PvP modes. It’s a great support weapon when going up against tougher activities making the Arbalest a solid all around weapon and is definitely worth the price this weekend.

Additional perks:

Extended Barrel Projection Fuse Composite Stock
