The original story follows… Today was a big day for Destiny 2 players, as Bungie released the 2.0 Update for the game, and then later in the day unveiled its content roadmap and a new ViDOC. It was a lot of content to pore over, but the fans have diligently examined every frame and uncovered some cool hints at new features. One that stood out to us was what appears to be an 8-player fireteam....
Lorentz Driver is the season pass’ Exotic void linear fusion rifle, and is one of two new exotics in Season of the Lost. The weapon’s intrinsic perk, Lagrangian Sight, marks one enemy randomly and if the player kills that enemy with the Driver, it drops a telemetry pattern for ability energy while collecting three without dying grants bonus damage. Thankfully the latest unlikely Destiny 2 bug found by players doesn’t break the game, but it may give some nightmares. In a GIF posted to social media, a Destiny 2 player named MiniCorgi showcased a bug that lets characters perform emotes in first-person instead of the default third-person view. Players can activate the bug in a specific section of the Almighty mission (‘1AU’) in the game’s story campaign. It seems to occur once players have activated the giant drill that churns up dirt and sediment....
After digging through roughly 26,000 audio files from the PC version of Destiny 2, Reddit user TheEcumene discovered a cache of audio that referenced content that isn’t currently available in the game. One such location in question is Phobos, one of the moons of the planet Mars. While the moon served as the location for the Black Shield map from Destiny, new voice lines included in the mined files hint that a future expansion or content update could actually send players there....
Not long after Destiny 2 developer Bungie reactivated the Wormgod Caress and Winter’s Guile players discovered that they were still broken. Through some quick-switching trickery, both of the exotic gauntlets could retain their damage-buffing perks long after the timer completed. RELATED: Destiny 2 Disables Broken Exotics Again Once again, the Wormgod Caress and Winter’s Guile glitches involved using multiple shotguns and the Shotgun Ammo Finder mod. It’s unclear how exactly the glitch works but it seems to swap out the damage buff countdown for the active Ammo Finder perk without actually removing the damage buff....
In an update published today, Bungie confirms that Destiny 2 players will be able to take part in Faction Rally again from November 7 until November 13. The game’s senior designer Tim Williams explains that for this second Faction Rally event the development team has made big changes to the token rewards. Now, normal Strikes will reward between 5 and 9 Faction Rally tokens (an increase from 3 to 7), while Nightfall Strikes will reward between 10 and 18 tokens for the first completion per character....
If it isn’t clear by now, some spoilers for Iron Banner in Destiny 2 will follow. One of the details discovered includes a milestone or quest that is associated with Iron Banner. Based on that, it is clear that Lord Saladin will once again be the vendor for Iron Banner. Lady Efrideet, who ran the event during the Rise of Iron expansion, is no longer involved based on this information, and instead Saladin will appear at “the Iron Banner grounds underneath the Traveler....
Because of how dominant grenade launchers have become, even kicking Cluster Bomb rocket launchers out of their previously-held spot as the go-to heavy weapon, the majority of players were expecting the weapon class to get majorly nerfed going into Year 3 and the Shadowkeep expansion. Developer Bungie confirmed that grenade launchers will not be getting nerfed whatsoever in the game update that will accompany Shadowkeep. But that does not mean grenade launchers will not be affected by nerfs coming in Year 3....
Debate over the exotic reward for this newly inventive quest will likely rage onward for some time, likely due to the fact that the Bastion fusion rifle was advertised on the seasonal calendar, unlike the quest it was attached to. However, the ultimate reward from this event may actually be the lore that players were able to experience upon completion. And Season of Dawn is no different, with Destiny 2 players discovering a few unknown items in the database that might signal a secret quest and the return of a heavy weapon from Destiny 1. While there is only a little bit to go on, the items do seem to fit the pattern of how similar quests have come to the game in the past. The “consumable to unlockable” change is appearing in two key areas in players’ gear in Shadowkeep: Armor 2.0 and weapon mods. Armor 2.0 works by giving players a stat rolled piece of armor that does not have any perks. The perks themselves come from armor mods that players select. And those mods are unlockables; that is, once players have found a mod, it will remain in players’ inventory, available to be slotted into as many armor pieces where they are able to be slotted....
With Season 18 comes also another sandbox patch where Bungie looks back at what sort of items are in need of a change, for the better or the worse depending on their performance thus far and based on player feedback. Destiny 2 fans have been very vocal lately about Exotics such as Lord of Wolves and Omnioculus being too powerful in PvP, as well as some weapon archetypes underperforming in PvE, and today’s TWAB outlines what to expect with Season 18....
Destiny 2 is currently in the final season of content for year 5, titled Season of the Seraph, which looks to set the proverbial table for the experience awaiting players in 2023’s Lightfall expansion. The season sees Guardians work with Ana Bray, Elsie Bray, Clovis Bray, Mara Sov, and Osiris to reform Rasputin, the AI Warmind which has been dormant since Season of Arrivals. However, The Witness’ forces are also making a play for Rasputin’s dormant weapons and data, with Xivu Arath’s forces pushing into Rasputin’s abandoned facilities to try and claim these spoils....
The upcoming expansion sees Savathun steal the Traveler’s Light for herself and her Hive, with Hive Guardians becoming a new enemy type in Destiny 2. There is also going to be a new weapon archetype in the form of the glaive, a sort of spear that is capable of shooting projectiles, which is the perfect weapon for the space magic lore of Destiny 2. With everything coming to the game in February, including a Raid, new Exotics, and dungeons, players are very keen on seeing what the expansion is all about....
Earlier in the week, current Destiny 2 players were welcomed to the final season inside of the Annual Pass called Season of Opulence. The expansion brought plenty of new content and gear to discover as well as a new wave based PvE mode called The Menagerie, which the fanbase has quickly taken to. With a lot of new content to look forward to on the horizon, Xur has returned for the weekend in Destiny 2 with an all-new inventory of exotics for players to purchase....
For those worried about the lack of Crucible updates over the past few years, Bungie also had some good news. Not only is Destiny 2 getting a new map for the first time in quite a while, the original Destiny game mode Rift is also arriving. The newest Destiny 2 Crucible map is known as Disjunction and takes place inside of Savathun’s Throne World. Dubbed as one of the largest maps Bungie has made, it’ll be added into the 3v3, 6v6, and free for all rotations....
However, for most players, the most meaningful change with this newest season is the update that comes with it. Many fan favorite exotics are getting altered or nerfed including the Whisper of the Worm sniper rifle. Fans continue to express their displeasure over these planned changes, though it appears that the backlash won’t change Bungie’s mind before the update launches. For now, Xur is back for the weekend in Destiny 2 with an all-new inventory of exotics for players to purchase....
Thankfully, the silver lining to this situation is that random rolls add a new twist to these classic items. Added alongside the well-received Forsaken expansion last month, players can now have two very different versions of the same items, with many having a specific god roll that players are always on the hunt for. So even with Xur selling duplicates this weekend, the associated random perks may help to add a little extra appeal and make them worth picking up once again....
The current trend continues, however, as Destiny 2 players expecting to see some of the very rare Forsaken exotic items from the merchant won’t be getting their wish yet. For the near future, Xur will be selling items players likely acquired throughout the first year of the game, though Bungie has confirmed that at some point in the future, new exotics could be making an appearance. Until then, here’s what to expect from Xur starting today, October 5, through the weekend....
