Intended to look similar to seasonal passes from other games like Fortnite, XP earned by playing Destiny 2 now goes towards unlocking rewards from seasonal pass ranks. Each season will introduce a free and premium track and for those who purchase it on their main account, season passes can be transferred to other platforms through cross-save. Season of the Undying also has special rewards like Vex style armor sets as well as a couple of exotic weapons like Eriana’s Vow hand cannon....

Beyond Light is coming out on November 10 which is quite a late date from the typical Destiny expansion release window. The team needed a bit more time to focus on tuning and optimization to ensure a healthy launch for the much anticipated fourth year of Destiny. Recently, it was also officially stated that Beyond Light will be bigger and more ambitious than Shadowkeep, that latest expansion. But the game has also been the subject of several controversies. At launch, fans were disappointed to discover changes to the games shader system which seemed to push them towards paying for cosmetic microtransactions. Fans were also dismayed when they learned that Destiny 2 included an XP scaling system that seemed to slow down the rate they would earn Bright Engrams (cosmetic loot). And although Bungie did address these complaints, fans were less enthused about the developer’s communication nor its initial secrecy....

Conventions are always massive draws for fans of a particular medium or franchise. Huge events like Comic-Con can bring in around 300,000 people, though Comic-Con has become more than just a comic-based event, attracting fans from all kinds of media to meet like-minded individuals and spend money. Though COVID-19 has caused many conventions to become online-only, including the recent BlizzCon 2021, they still offer the opportunity to reach out to fanbases to keep them excited for more upcoming gaming content....

On Twitter, a Destiny 2 fan asked game director Christopher Barrett whether players might see any more returning exotics from Destiny 1, to which Barrett replied “yes.” Although creating brand new Destiny 2 exotics is a “higher priority” for the development team right now, Bungie does plan to bring back “some old favorites.” Bungie brought back several exotics from Destiny 1 last month. The Curse of Osiris DLC expansion includes several exotic weapons from Destiny 1, including The Jade Rabbit as well as the exotic fusion rifle Telesto....

But Destiny 2 is also hoping to expand that a bit and allow a pair of players to use Guided Games to find a group of four for the same purpose. That’s according to the game’s Project Lead, Mark Noseworthy, who said on Twitter that the target is for Guided Games to support a two-player party searching for a bigger group: Guided Games is an alternative to straight matchmaking, which Bungie says would be “incompatible” for activities like the raid....

Specifically, whereas Destiny 2 has generally stepped away from releasing class-exclusive weaponry, there are a few select examples of Bungie still maintaining some amount of diversity between Hunters, Titans, and Warlocks. The three Exotic Glaives are the latest example of this being the case, but users have discovered that the Season of Opulence’s three class-exclusive swords — Goldtusk, Throne Cleaver, and Death’s Razor — may be coming back as well....

Those playing Destiny 2 with an HDR compatible television or monitor will be able to experience “a dazzling display of color, brightness and contrast that was previously impossible to render, further improving your experience.” Bungie engineers are also adding “SLI multi-GPU support, for those who want to take advantage of multiple-GPUs for even faster overall performance.” These graphics features will be available by the time the Destiny 2 PC beta arrives next week....

Of course, gamers have also been efficient at discovering ways to cheese these activities, from the obstacle course’s guaranteed Starhorse’s Favor buff to Destiny 2 players skipping an encounter in Grasp of Avarice to get free items. Yet, other players like the Dungeon to be challenging in a different way, such as tackling it solo. Bungie has steadily moved to make the game more difficult by adjust player and enemy powers. Destiny 2 Shadowkeep saw sweeping weapon adjustments that to many made the game not challenging in a good way but more tedious. In the future, players can expect more reference art for a variety of Destiny 2 content. Zavala and Cayde-6 reference art are almost certain to be in high demand, considering their prevalence in Destiny 2’s marketing so far. References for the new Veist weapons manufacturer should be expected. Grenade launchers are a must. The Destiny community will pretty much cheer for any reference art that Bungie is willing to share....

But who exactly is Saint-14? And what makes him such a popular character despite this being his first actual in-game appearance? At least, this is his first appearance in Destiny 2 when he has been alive (more on that later). For veteran fans of the franchise, mentions of Saint-14 date back to the first game with focus being put back on the legendary character of the game’s lore in Curse of Osiris....

In other news, Bungie’s latest blog post highlighted another major change coming in a few weeks inside of Season 15. After tons of fan feedback, Bungie is making a big adjustment to the way the Armor Synthesis process works, essentially removing the resource known as Synthstrand completely. Instead of collecting it by defeating enemies, players can now just spend 10,000 glimmer to purchase Synthweave bounties from Ada-1 directly. This should help speed up the process and reduce the already considerable amount of consumables in game....

Exotic items have also been a hot topic for the Destiny community as of late due to a recent hot fix which nerfed the Star-Eater Scales and Boots of the Assembler, two popular items introduced this season. While the community has been up in arms over the nerfs, players discovered that the Star-Eater Scales may have received an accidental buff as well, increasing super damage to 90% over what players expected....

According to Cozmo, the bug popped up when Bungie added seasonal progression rewards to Destiny 2, which conflicted with the ability to purchase armor in the game. Because of this, Bungie disabled armor purchases, which made the last Faction Rally a big grind for players who didn’t already have a full set of faction armor. With the new Renown Stat being tied to faction armor, many players were left grinding at a slower pace while waiting for faction armor to drop randomly from reward packages....

The files in question are a series of new ornaments for some of Destiny 2’s exotic weapons, specifically Sweet Business, Graviton Lance, Wardcliff Coil, and Prometheus Lens. Each of the ornaments will give the exotic weapons a unique look, with several different themes on offer. At first blush, new ornaments is not a sign that Crimson Days is coming back, but the icon attached to the four new ornaments suggest the event is returning....

Alongside the announcement that Destiny 2: Shadowkeep was delayed until October 1st, Bungie confirmed some plans to fill in the extra time between Season 7 and the start of Season 8/Year 3. There will be more Iron Banner events, more opportunities to earn double/triple Infamy or Valor, and there will be a patch that addresses Recknoning and Menagerie. Next week, though, Destiny 2 players will be able to welcome Eva Levante back to the Tower in time for the Dawning event, when the Vanguard’s base of operations will be covered in snow and it will be time for Guardians to give cookies to other characters. Just like this year’s Festival of the Lost did with Jurassic Green, the Dawning will bring a new weapon for players to farm, as well as an old acquaintance in the form of Glacioclasm....

The final stage of the Destiny 2 Empyrean Foundation event may take the longest, as players have to up the donations to a whopping 9,777,777,700 polarized fractiline. The original goal was 9,777,777,000, but Bungie increased it by 700 “due to player feedback.” Why the number isn’t 9,777,777,777 is unclear, as Bungie typically favors the number “7” in its games.
