As seen in the correspondence below in the tweets from Barrett and a fan about “collectible items like Dead Ghosts” coming back to Destiny 2, it looks as if they could be making their way into the science fiction shooter at some point in the future. However, it’s important to note that the Game Director didn’t exactly confirm their inclusion in the title. After all, D2 Community Manager “Cozmo23” then followed up to say that the collectibles might not be Dead Ghosts per se, but rather “something for collectors....

On the game’s official forums, one disgruntled Destiny 2 player wrote that they had been banned from the game for “no reason” and that they did “nothing on purpose to get an unfair advantage in the game.” However, the player did admit that they had a cheat engine installed on their PC to allow them to “tinker” with other games. Responding to the thread, Bungie Community Manager Cozmo explained why the player had been banned, making it clear that the ban was no accident....

But beyond the speedrunning issue, the sword changes are a bit of a strange move, at least judging by the changes that Bungie has divulged so far. There could be more to these changes, but from the information available, swords are going to be put in a bit of a strange spot in Destiny 2 that may not help increase their use very much, which seems to be the very purpose of this redesign....

Gambit has been a sore spot with fans for a couple years at this point and to that end, Bungie has announced a few new twists on the horizon. Gambit Labs, a place to experiment and tweak the PvPvE mode, will be coming at reset next week and introduces a new mode called Invasion Swap. As the name implies, the team that banks 25 and 75 motes will actually open up an invasion portal for the enemy team instead....

Previously, Destiny 2 players discovered an armor set that looked like a reskin of an Eververse set from back during Curse of Osiris. The lore surrounding the armor suggested it was the raid set, and Bungie later confirmed it, prompting a controversy within the Destiny 2 community. Bungie’s communication with regards to the future of Destiny may be thin, but there’s no way to dodge around Activision’s annual financial earnings report and outlook for 2016 and beyond. The publisher is required to provide their shareholders with information regarding their plans, which includes tenuous release plans for major franchises like Call of Duty, Skylanders, and, yes, Destiny. Activision has delivered as expected, revealing their plans for the future of Destiny and when Destiny 2 will arrive....

For perspective, Destiny’s 2014 beta had 4.6 million players and was described by Activision as the “largest console beta for a new IP.” That Destiny 2 managed to cross 4.6 million players in its console beta alone is impressive, and will likely be even more impressive once the totals for the August 28 PC beta are added in. However, Overwatch garnered 9.7 million players across PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in its beta, so Destiny 2 has its work cut out for itself....

The item is available for pre-order but at a cost of $777,777.77. Of course, it isn’t really that expensive. The price lowers significantly for players who complete the upcoming Deep Stone Crypt raid by December 1, 2020, at reset. Then it will plummet to $174.99. Once the raid is completed, players will get a reward code to purchase the jacket at a more reasonable price. It’s a good-looking, fur-lined jacket that will keep players cozy and warm during the coming winter months (or if they ever find themselves on Europa)....

Bungie said that when it first implemented abilities that applied damage buffs or weakening effects to enemies in Destiny 2 at its launch, there were only a few available. But over time, with additions like new subclasses and abilities, players have been able to discover ways to stack buffs and apply multiple at a time to take a lot of the challenge out of the game. It has been a pretty well known fact for quite some time now that Destiny’s endgame PvP experience, Trials of Osiris, would return in Destiny 2 but under the new moniker Trials of the Nine. There were early leaks that pointed to the name change, as well as a more recent discovery in some of the game’s audio files, and finally it was spotted on the updated Destiny Companion app....

One thing that Destiny 2 players might not realize is that the Faction Rally engrams have a limit. After 30 reputation level ups, players will no longer receive gear from engrams. They can still earn shaders, though. This limit on Faction Rally engrams is somewhat curious, given that the goal should be to encourage players to engage with Destiny 2 as much as possible. But putting a limit on the amount of gear a player can earn goes against that motive....

First off, the Heroic Strike playlist is being completely removed from the game. While being a much-asked-for addition to the game that was added post-launch, a new strike playlist setup in Year 2 with varying Power levels and modifiers will replace the Heroic strike playlist. For those who purchase the Forsaken DLC, the strike playlist will now offer three tiers of difficulty: 300, 400, and 500 Power. Once a player surpasses 40 Power levels above each playlist, that particular playlist will no longer be selectable....

Xur was first introduced in Destiny as the proverbial exotic vendor who would appear in a random spot between the Tower and Vestian Outpost social spaces every weekend. He returned in Destiny 2 still offering a random selection of exotics every weekend, but would appear randomly across most zones in the game. In the lore, little is known about him other than he is an agent of the mysterious Nine and is believed to be a creation of the Nine rather than a converted agent akin to the Emissary....

It should be noted that these results are from the experimentation of a single player, so it is entirely possible that there could be minor errors in the findings that could be corroborated or disproven by further review from more players. Still, the conclusion might not be entirely surprising to longtime Destiny 2 players, though it does contradict a long-held belief about the damage drop-off at higher levels. My early days of playing Destiny with friends were some of the best experiences I’ve had in gaming. Leveling up one’s guardian was an engrossing journey, and earning that second sub class ability was extremely satisfying. I became a (self-described) master of using the Titan class, and enjoyed countless hours of fun playing co-op and battling other guardians in The Crucible. For awhile, Destiny was the only game disc that even sat in my console....

Up until the release of the Witch Queen expansion, Orbs of Power were generated by using masterwork weapons, using exotic weapons equipped with their completed catalyst, or by casting supers. Once generated, the glowing orbs will fill up the player’s super gauge. It is important to note that Orbs of Power will only be generated on weapon multi-kills rather than every kill. As revealed by Destiny 2 community manager DMG, Year 2 armor in the game will soon get randomized stats. So, instead of one armor set favoring mobility and another favoring resilience, all pieces have a chance of rolling either mobility, resilience, or recovery. This is a huge boost for Destiny 2 players who have been asking for this change practically since the game’s release. Hunters especially have suffered the plight of getting a cool armor set but finding that it favors mobility and is, therefore, less viable....

This appears to be mainly due to the super’s role in the Crucible meta, so Bungie is outlining a few plans to reign in the Spectral Blades super. The two issues that the developer is taking a closer look at are the length of the super and the survivability of the Destiny 2 player who activates it. For the former, this is especially an issue when combined with Gwisin Vest, though the developer is uncertain about changing the Vest....

The latest Destiny 2 XP farm arrives courtesy of the new Empyrean Foundation event that started this week. As part of the event, players are tasked with donating Polarized Fractaline in order to accomplish 7 different goals. Bungie won’t say what the Empyrean Restoration effort will eventually lead to, but rumors and leaks suggest that it will be the precursor to the return of Trials of Osiris in Season of the Worthy....

While a majority of the post points out the ways that the poster, who goes by u/feelingRegal on Reddit, has been disappointed by the recent seasons of Destiny 2 since Shadowkeep launched in 2019, it isn’t without suggestions for improvement. One of the poster’s most interesting suggestions comes in the form of a new way for Destiny 2 to approach weapon drops and mods on weapons like Go Figure....
