Talking with Polygon, Bungie design lead Lars Bakken shed some new light on Destiny 2’s new Gambit mode, saying that there won’t be any way for players to overlevel the PvE combatants in Gambit even at the level cap. He also said that like Iron Banner and Trials, level advantages will be turned on for those two PvP encounters during the match: This is a different twist, considering every normal Crucible mode in the game, from Competitive and Quickplay, a player’s Power level does not have an impact on the game....

In particular, the hand cannons in Destiny 2 are helpful for their usefulness against crowds of enemies and ability to stack damage. In the new Season of the Chosen event, a new Igneous Hammer hand cannon was introduced to the game with some impressive stats. There are several YouTube channels dedicated to hosting music archives for Destiny and Destiny 2, with some content creators even transforming the original soundtracks into remixed tracks. Even though this is good for the community, there may be issues with the legal department when a given video is just the full soundtrack on a static image. This is something that violates Bungie’s guidelines on the matter, and it has resulted in videos being taken down, demonetized, or entirely removed from the platform....

It should be noted that many of these pinnacle engrams that are the center of the endgame grind are rewarded from playing some of the more interesting parts of Destiny 2, including the Strike Playlist, Seasonal Activities, and especially the Raids. The issue itself is less about whether the activities are enjoyable, but rather how rewarding some of the most difficult tasks in the game can be when it comes to helping level players up....

Valor ranks (earned via the casual playlist) are a non-issue because there is no penalty for losing as players rank up, but Glory rank (earned via the competitive playlist) is influenced by wins and losses. The more games a player wins, the higher their Glory rank in the Competitive playlist, and any losses will take away from that rank. Glory is also the path to the Redrix’s Claymore pulse rifle, which looks to be a highly sought after PvP weapon....

An example comes from coming up with builds that can effectively allow players to solo even Grandmaster Nightfall Strikes, the most punishing activity in the game, where a team-wide wipe means failing the whole run. Similarly, Destiny 2 players have been perfecting various strategies to complete Raid encounters in the least amount of time possible while also reducing the size of the team, only featuring mandatory roles. For those who don’t know, combat style mods are seasonal mods that impart large benefits to players when equipped. Since they are only seasonal mods though, they go away at the end of the season. Even if the same mod a player has equipped at the end of a season appears in the next season, the Destiny 2 player has to earn it all over again. Players may have noticed that the XP bar in Destiny 2 is no longer tracking experience earned like it once did. The bad news is that this is a confirmed bug that Bungie plans to fix in a patch that releases alongside Destiny 2: Forsaken. The good news is the bug is only visual; players are still receiving the correct amount of XP for activities and they will earn Bright Engrams once they “fill the bar....

A new glitch has also reared its head, but has quickly been temporarily dealt with thanks to Bungie being back from the holiday season. Titan players discovered a favorable glitch when using the Wormgod Caress gauntlets, letting them stack bonus melee damage while removing the timer for the buff. When paired with a throwing hammer, Titans could unintentionally dish out incredible amounts of damage very quickly. As a temporary fix, Bungie has disabled the exotic item for the time being....

In addition to The Dawning, the Deep Stone Crypt raid continues to get new challenges for players to overcome at each reset. This raid has also proven to be incredibly popular with players and has already saw major numbers of players attempting it since it arrives. In fact, one group called The Tracker Network has been able to compile the data to determine the most popular weapons used in the raid with the exotic sword Lament leading all gear followed by the Heritage shotgun, Falling Guillotine sword, Xenopage, and Ikelos SMG leading the list....

Bungie has also outlined plans for season 13, even with a few additional weeks left in the current Season of the Hunt. Dreaming City and Moon loot are being brought back and added to the loot pool, including new perks that these weapons previously didn’t have. One of the bigger changes are vendor rewards and reputation, as Bungie begins the process of ditching the old tokens system for something more modern with specific rewards earned at various tiers....

Controversy never seems to be too far either, as Destiny 2 faces some backlash from the community over a pair of exotics. Last week, it was through the confirmation that Titan’s wouldn’t be getting Twilight Garrison back, at least not in the form it took in the original Destiny. Some in the community took it too far and harassed a Bungie developer over the information. Next, a change was made to the Caliban’s Hand Hunter exotic over the description being wrong, and many took that to be a nerf instead of changing the exotics behavior to match the text....

Specifically, the latest Destiny 2 developer blog has revealed two entirely new Iron Banner weapons that will be coming out as part of the ongoing Season of the Lost. A hand cannon and a sword, these weapons don’t share any geometry with existing models, which is sure to make them more interesting to the player base by default. Although Jotunn has been in Destiny 2 for close to a year – released during the Black Armory DLC – only recently had players discovered a major exploit with the exotic. Apparently, if players get close enough to an enemy that Jotunn both damages the enemy and themselves, the output increases exponentially. The Destiny 2 Season of the Chosen Season Pass trailer starts off by detailing the content players can unlock immediately. This includes the Praefectus Suit Armor Set as well as the unique Ticuu’s Divination Exotic Bow. It also highlights the Presage Exotic Quest, which players need to complete if they hope to unlock the Dead Man’s Tale Exotic scout rifle. The trailer then shows how players will be able to utilize these new items in the Battlegrounds activities that were introduced as part of Season of the Chosen....

The latest discovery has found its way to the Destiny 2 subReddit where leaked audio files were posted on a Chinese video hosting website called Youku. While the video was soon taken down, the audio files were persevered and sound as though they’re from some sort of cinematic rendered clip. At the start of the trailer, Destiny 2 fans saw a massive city lit up in neon colors, which Bungie would later confirm to be located on Neptune. However, it wouldn’t be long until the familiar voice of Calus, former Cabal Emperor, loomed as the pyramid ships infiltrated the sky box. Calus’ voice eventually gives way to the mysterious figure known as The Witness, who appears to be watching the invasion force take one a Guardian Fire team....
